Menominee 6" Radial Axis Fan
Circa 1911
The Menominee Radial Axis fan was put on the market in 1911 and according to an article from that time, was designed to blow the air more up and out and was ideal for such places as a dining room.  For as long as I have been collecting, I have heard this fan referred to as a ‘Bank Tellers Fan’ because, as the myth explains, it would not blow all the money everywhere.  Also,  the letters “BT”, allegedly for “Bank Teller”, are at the end of the model number.  Nothing has ever been found to support this theory and I find it highly unlikely it would have been marketed to such a small target audience.
