Emerson 'Trojan' Type 5110 |
|
Circa 1904 |
|
This fan was
marketed by Emerson in their
‘Trojan’ line of fans in the
year 1904. This style of motor
with a single bearing setup is
known commonly among collectors
as a ‘pancake’ and if you take a
look at the photo taken from the
side you will see why. I really
love the look of this fan and is
one of the first ‘good’ fans in
my collection |

Emerson 8" DC Fan Style #19044 |
|
Circa 1916 |
|
This DC fan from
Emerson is simply a great fan,
far superior in my opinion to
the AC models which a far more
common. I believe less than 8
are known of the DC model
compared to probably over 1000
of the AC. The reason I love
this fan so much is fact it runs
so smooth, and quiet. And for
this reason, it has been the fan
on my bedside table for several
years and is turned on every
night. |

Emerson Silver Swan 12" Oscillating Fan |
|
Circa 1934 |
|
The ‘Silver Swan’
fan by Emerson was designed by a
Jewish woman named Jane Evans.
It felt very strange for me
writing that distinction,
however at the time it was still
a very big deal. The blade
design was inspired by a boat
prop and is not only beautiful
but very quiet and efficient. I
would think this is one of the
most recognized fans from this
time by all, not just the
collectors. This model in my
collection is a 12” 3-speed fan
I recently bought from a friend
named Rob Wrinkle who also is
the first person I ever met who
collected fans in 1994.
