Elcon 10" Orbital Oscillating Fan
|
|
Circa 1935 |
|
Elcon is one of a
handful of Australian companies
which manufactured fans at this
time. In addition to the
‘Orbital’, they produced a
stationary model and both a
quite rare. Of all the models I
have seen, this is the only
green example I can recall as
the others were painted beige.
In addition to the full
‘orbital’ oscillation, the fan
can also be adjusted to remain
stationary. If you take a
moment and compare this fan to
the Verity ‘Zephyr’ you will
notice the design to be the same
with the motor mounted in a ring
which is then mounted to a
C-frame. This makes the orbital
oscillation seem effortless.
However, aesthetically, they
could not be any more
dissimilar. |
