Braun 8" Bakelite Fan
Circa 1938
This small Bakelite fan was manufactured by the German firm Braun in the late 1930's.    Considered to be an icon of design, this fan, has been shown in museums throughout the world and many books focusing on industrial design as well as products made of Bakelite.  It also looks great wall-mounted. Also, if you look closely at the technical data on the bottom of the fan, you will notice the voltage is listed as 110/220.  Seems a bit confusing to me!  However, when that bottom plate is removed, on the underside is a diagram showing how to wire it for either 110 or 220.  Not too important to people in the US but in Europe it was perfect as there were no standards from country to country for voltage.
